The COVID-19 pandemic has substantially impacted our way of life for more than two years and has forced us to rethink how we deal with the health, economic, social and environmental challenges ahead.

This webinar covers the pandemic’s effects on politics, society and the environment in Asia and Australia. Three speakers cover sustainable recoveries and the clean energy transition post-COVID-19, pandemic racism and sexism in Australia, and the pressures on Chinese social workers due to ‘COVID-zero’ policy.

  • Dr Sylvia Ang, Lecturer in Sociology at Monash University.
  • Theo Mendez, PhD candidate at the Asia Institute and the Melbourne Climate Futures Academy, University of Melbourne.
  • Leiheng Wang, PhD candidate at Asia Institute, the University of Melbourne.
  • Moderator: Professor Mark Wang, Director of the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies and Professor in the School of Geography at the University of Melbourne.
